Our Rocky August Rod Round-up has past for another year and what a event it was. This was our first year we have held it at Coolwaters Holiday Village and we had a hoot. We had rods and cars come from as far away as Yamba NSW in the south and Chinchilla in the west. I was in ore of the way my fellow 66er’s worked together to make this event so successful, everyone helped in some way and it was this team work that ensured that even the executive committee enjoyed the event. The Coolwaters team also did all and more to help us make this event what it was. Friday night we had our welcome BBQ and entertainment by the Rocky Rockers & music by Greg Rae, most of us got up and had a go and those that didn’t just enjoyed some great entertainment. Saturday morning we all awoke to a full continental breakfast and was that good, we then lined up before heading out on our morning cruise. After taking in some of the sites of the Capricorn Coast we enjoyed morning tea at Daniel Park Cooee Bay and again the ladies out did themselves with a huge spread of cakes, biscuits. We then continued with the cruise which finished at Bell Park where most of us had lunch at one of the local businesses. Our games for the Piston Cup started mid afternoon back at the camp and all those who participated had a ball and gave the spectators a few laughs as well. Saturday night’s dinner was greatly received after our day out and about, there were plenty of prizes and these were shared throughout the room and as we laughed and talked before we knew it the night was over. Sunday breakfast our team was up early cooking and preparing a great continental spread which went over well before some of us gathered our cars on the banks of the lake for a photo or two. To everyone who came along we thank you and look forward to seeing you and a few more of your friends next year.
Last Sunday 11 cars and their owners made the world a better place for Kerry, Kerry and his family were very appreciative of all those who took time out of their weekend for them. Kerry’s favourite car was the Red hot 34 of John and Joyce.
