2015 Cap Coast Campout

Well another year has come and gone and our guests like us have returned to reality. Everything got underway Friday morning with the early bird cruise which was slightly delayed when participants decided not to leave the park until the scones, jam and cream had been tried. They eventually got underway and throughout the day the numbers grew as our friends / guests arrived. Friday night our catering team did themselves proud again, there was a choice of three dishes served with rice as our welcome dinner. After we were full we welcomed everyone, had a bit of a briefing for Saturday’s cruise and then we enjoyed catching up with friends, jukebox playing in the back ground and we tried a movie inside as the weather was not ideal. Saturday morning we awoke to fog and a hearty hot /cold breakfast. After breakie we gathered on the shore of the lake, handed out cruise sheets and a quick briefing and we were underway. We arrived at the RSL Retirement Village just after 10 where we parked in front of the high dependency unit. Some of us lined up for a cuppa, sausage sizzle provided by the RSL and others mingled with friends and residents of village. Then the fun began as one after another vehicles pulled up at the main entrance and took many people for a ride down memory lane. Soon enough our couple of hours had gone and we were off to enjoy some free time. The Management and Staff of the village could not thank us enough and reiterated that many of us would not realise how much difference we had made with our short visit, “ it’s our pleasure”      As everyone returned to Coolwaters and we parked up and started our relaxing afternoon of entertainment, games and prize draws. We got through our prize draws then our fun patrol encouraged people to join in the games and this resulted in many laughs. The weather wasn’t perfect but I suppose we cannot win them all. Around 5ish everyone started heading back to the accommodation as they changed into their costumes for our catered dinner at 6.30 where our theme was “School Days”. As the dining hall started to fill it was great to see so many make the effort and this as you could imagine gave us all many laughs. We all enjoyed our two course meal, handed out prizes for those who enjoyed the afternoon games, drew our raffle and then enjoyed the night chatting, listening to music and dancing.  Sunday morning our catering team put on a huge hot and cold spread again so that our guests only had to pack up and drive home safely. Our team would like to thank all of you for supporting our small event and we hope to see you again next year. We are very fortunate to have so many members willing to help with sponsorship and it’s only through the generosity of those sponsors and our entrants of the event we can help local charities as the monies raised from our Campout are not kept but donated to those in need. Thank you and kind regards from highway 66 Rodders of Rockhampton Qld.
